Why a BRCGS toolkit travels

BRCGS began as a British retail standard and is now used wherever retailers demand a GFSI-recognised scheme. The audit protocol, the clause numbering and the grading rules are published by BRCGS centrally and applied identically by every approved certification body.

The Issue 9 standard sets the requirements: senior management commitment, the food safety plan, site standards, product control, process control and personnel.
The fundamental clauses are the same everywhere, and failing one carries the same consequence in any country.

Your certification body audits to the published protocol, not to a national interpretation.
Local food law still applies alongside it, and stays yours to add.

What a toolkit does, and what it does not do

You get the documented system already written and structured to the standard: the manual, procedures, forms, registers and risk assessments. That is normally the slowest part of getting certified and the part that is identical from one site to the next.

It does not implement itself. Someone at your site still has to make the documents true, with your process steps, your hazards, your suppliers and your monitoring records. Local food law, such as labelling and permits, stays local and is yours to add.

Common questions

Before you buy

Is this written for Issue 9 specifically?

Yes. The document set follows the Issue 9 clause structure. If you are still certified to an earlier issue, the transition training covers what changed and the toolkit gives you the documentation in the new structure.

Will my certification body accept documents written elsewhere?

Auditors assess whether your system meets the clause and whether it reflects what your site actually does. Where the documents came from is not a finding. What matters is that they are completed with your real process, hazards and records.

Does it cover the fundamental clauses?

Yes, including senior management commitment, the HACCP-based food safety plan, internal audit, corrective action, traceability, complaint handling and incident management.

What if I also need packaging certification?

That is a separate standard with its own toolkit. BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7 is published separately because the requirements differ.

What language and file formats do I get?

English, as Microsoft Word documents and Excel workbooks. Nothing is a locked PDF, because a document you cannot edit is a document you cannot make true for your site.

Why is the price in South African rand?

We are a South African company and our prices are set in rand. The dollar figure shown is an indication, converted at the current rate, so you can judge the cost before checkout. The amount you pay is the rand amount.
