Why Kenyan food businesses go paperless with ASCloud

Kenyan exporters of fresh produce, nuts and processed foods face two sets of eyes: local regulators and the buyer's certification body. Both want the same thing, records that are complete, dated and signed by the person who did the check. Paper records from a pack shed in the Rift Valley or a processing plant in Athi River get damp, lost or filled in late. On a phone they are time-stamped where the work happens, and a missed check is flagged before the auditor finds it.

With the new coordination Act bringing agencies closer together, one searchable system that answers every inspector from the same records saves days of preparation.

Buyers, markets and the standards they ask for

  • European Union and United Kingdom buyers of fresh produce commonly ask for GLOBALG.A.P., and retailers for GRASP or equivalent social modules
  • Processors supplying multinational brands and retailers are asked for FSSC 22000 or BRCGS
  • Regional trade within the East African Community runs on EAC harmonised standards, with KEBS certification for local products

ASCloud loads the requirement set for the scheme your buyer names, so your team works to the right checklist from day one.

Setup, support and invoicing

Setup for sites outside South Africa is scoped on your written quote, including how much of the configuration and training runs online and whether on-site days are needed. Any travel is quoted before anything is booked. Support runs during South African office hours (Kenya is one hour ahead of South Africa). Invoices are issued in South African rand, quarterly or annually in advance, because debit orders are not available across borders.

Straight answers

Questions from Kenya

Can a Kenyan company use ASCloud?

Yes. ASCloud runs in a web browser and on phones and tablets, so a site in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru or Eldoret uses it the same way as a site in Johannesburg. Prices can be shown in Kenya shillings and invoices are issued in South African rand.

Does ASCloud replace KEBS certification?

No. ASCloud holds your food safety system and its records. KEBS product certification, and certification to FSSC 22000, BRCGS or GLOBALG.A.P., are issued by the relevant body. The system makes the evidence easy to find when they visit.

What does the Food and Feed Safety Control Co-ordination Act 2026 mean for us?

The Act, Act 21 of 2026, creates an Office of the Food Safety Controller to coordinate the agencies involved in food and feed safety. The direction of travel is more coordinated inspection, and records that are complete, dated and easy to produce are the best preparation for that.
